A Brazilian butt lift (BBL) uses a patient's own fat, harvested through liposuction from areas such as the abdomen, flanks, or thighs, to add volume and shape to the buttocks. The harvested fat is processed to separate viable fat cells before being carefully injected in multiple small amounts into different layers of the buttock to build a rounder, fuller contour, while the donor areas benefit from the liposuction contouring as well. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes two to four hours depending on how much fat is harvested and grafted. Candidates are patients with sufficient donor fat available for harvesting and who want a fuller buttock shape without an implant. Because fat grafts need a stable blood supply to survive, patients are usually asked to avoid sitting directly on the buttocks for a period after surgery, using special cushions or lying face down instead, and a portion of the grafted fat is naturally reabsorbed over the following months. Recovery involves wearing compression garments for several weeks and avoiding strenuous exercise for about six weeks. Patients traveling to India for a BBL generally plan a stay of around two weeks to allow for early healing and follow-up before travel.
