About Botox Injections

Botox is the best-known brand of botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that is injected in small, precise doses into facial muscles to temporarily relax the contractions that cause dynamic wrinkles, such as frown lines between the brows, crow's feet around the eyes, and horizontal forehead lines. The toxin works by blocking nerve signals to the treated muscle, so the skin above it smooths out while surrounding expression remains largely natural if the dose is well judged. Treatment is done in a clinic setting with a fine needle and no anesthesia beyond optional numbing cream, typically taking ten to twenty minutes for several injection points. Effects begin within three to seven days, peak around two weeks, and generally last three to four months before the muscle activity gradually returns, at which point repeat treatment is needed to maintain the effect. Botox is also used medically for conditions such as excessive sweating, chronic migraine, and certain muscle spasm disorders. There is essentially no downtime beyond mild redness or a small bruise at injection sites, making it a common add-on for patients already visiting India for other cosmetic or medical treatment.
