About Hodgkin Lymphoma Treatment

Hodgkin lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system marked by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells, has one of the highest cure rates among cancers when treated with a standard chemotherapy regimen (commonly ABVD), and India's oncology centers follow internationally recognized protocols for staging and treatment. Diagnosis is confirmed through a lymph node biopsy and staged using PET-CT imaging to map the extent of disease above and below the diaphragm. Most patients are treated with a course of combination chemotherapy over several months, with response assessed by interim PET-CT scans that help oncologists decide whether to continue, adjust, or add radiation therapy for residual disease. Localized, early-stage disease may be treated with a shorter chemotherapy course followed by involved-site radiation, while advanced-stage disease typically needs a longer chemotherapy course alone. For relapsed or resistant cases, salvage chemotherapy followed by autologous stem cell transplant is available at leading centers. Chemotherapy cycles are delivered on an outpatient day-care basis wherever possible, and your tumor board will outline a full cycle-by-cycle schedule before you travel.
