About CyberKnife Treatment

CyberKnife is a robotic radiosurgery system that delivers highly focused, high-dose radiation to small or hard-to-reach tumors with sub-millimeter accuracy, using a linear accelerator mounted on a robotic arm that tracks the tumor's position and adjusts in real time during treatment — including tumors that move with breathing — without needing an invasive head frame. It is commonly used in India for brain tumors, spinal tumors, early-stage lung cancer, liver tumors, and cases where a tumor sits close to critical structures such as the brainstem, optic nerves, or spinal cord, making conventional surgery or radiation riskier. Because of its precision, CyberKnife can deliver an effective radiation dose in just one to five sessions (stereotactic body radiotherapy/radiosurgery), compared with several weeks of daily treatment with conventional radiation — a significant advantage for patients traveling from abroad. Treatment planning uses high-resolution MRI and CT imaging fused together to map the tumor precisely, and each session is entirely non-invasive and painless, typically lasting 30–90 minutes with no anesthesia required. Most patients return home the same day as each session and resume normal activities immediately afterward.
